Concierge Medical Practice entered a team into The Shakespeare Hospice annual Stratford-upon-Avon Dragon Boat Race. Supporting the return of the much-anticipated dragon boat race to the river Avon, our team, took part in the charity event on the River Avon on Sunday, 19th September. The event raised more than £25,000 for the charity which supports people with life-limiting illnesses and their families in Stratford-upon-Avon and the north Cotswolds.
Our team, ‘Doctors Orders’ comprised of practice management, doctors, nurses, admin and accounts teams, family and friends from Full Potential Therapy, Topside Pharmacy and Liam Harrison, our sponsored winning conditional jockey. The crew of 17 people took part in three races of about 250m paddling in unison to their drummers beat. A first for our inexperienced team, we didn’t make the final but have declared they will be back with vigour next year to improve on our position.
Kat Carrick, Managing Partner said: “Despite the wet start to the day, our team were enthusiastic, motivated, and tenacious. It was our first dragon boat race and despite missing out on the final it has been a huge success offering a fun team building experience for our hard-working team. There was an amazing atmosphere as Stratford town spectators cheered us on. We are proud to have been able to support the local charity achieve their fundraising goals. A brilliant day out for all of the family.”
“Thank you to everyone that took part and thank you to everyone that has sponsored us.”
