Private GP Covid Update – From this month, fully vaccinated people travelling to England and Scotland will no longer have to take any Covid tests – either before departure or after arrival.
From 4am on 11 February:
Fully vaccinated travellers and under-18s will no longer need to take a lateral flow test two days after they arrive in England (Day 2 test).
Travellers who are not fully vaccinated will no longer have to self-isolate on arrival, or take a test on day eight. However, they will still have to show proof of a negative Covid test taken within 48 hours of travel, and they must still take a post-arrival PCR test (Day 2 test).
All passengers will still need to fill in a passenger locator form.
Most countries are also reducing or removing restrictions on travel but this is changing all the time. Please check for entry requirements of any countries you visit. These can change quickly.
Fully vaccinated, in the UK, is defined as having had both doses of a 2-dose vaccine or one dose of a one-dose vaccine. The last vaccine needs to have been at least 14 days prior to the date of travel. Currently, you do not need to have had a booster to be considered fully vaccinated in the UK. However, there are a number of countries who are changing their definition of fully vaccinated to require a booster vaccine if the main course of vaccination was more than 9 months from the date of travel. It is uncertain as to whether the UK will follow in amending the definition of fully vaccinated.
Covid passes issued in the UK can be used throughout the EU to show proof of vaccination – either digitally, or as a printed download (as long as it is dated later than 1 November 2021). From 3 February, 12 to 15-year-olds in England would be able to prove their vaccination status via the digital NHS pass for international outbound travel.
